Forgive me for I have sunned!

Brown spots, lines and rough texture are unwanted souvenirs of our active outdoor lifestyle. Don’t despair. Despite what you may have heard, all sun damage doesn’t have to be permanent. Vitamin A is an amazing de-aging ingredient which can leave the skin healthier and stronger than before, even working to prevent skin cancer. It’s just one of the anti-oxidant, anti-aging ingredients in the “cocktail” that makes up our amazing, time-release skin peels.

    Doc or Spa?

Peels have replaced laser treatment as the resurfacing treatment of choice, with medical lines like Obagi getting plenty of attention. Even if you’re an Obagi fan, we’re confident you’ll be just as pleased, if not more so, by the results you can achieve with the Preston Wynne Timeless Peel performed in a series. And unlike a medical office, at our spa you’ll spend less money and get more of our signature skin-care TLC. Our estheticians carefully monitor your progress and communicate with you about the process.

    Peels vs. Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion remains an outstanding anti-aging, skin improvement modality--many of our clients are alternating microdermabrasion facials with an annual Peel Program to build upon their great results, and maintain their investment in their skin. For sensitive skins, Microdermabrasion—a “mechanical” rather than “chemical” exfoliation process, is sometimes the best option.

As with all our more intensive treatments, we recommend a consultation to determine your suitability for the Peel or Microdermabrasion programs.

Peel while the sun don't shine!

Winter is the perfect time to do your peel program or microdermabrasion series, since you don’t have to worry as much about exposing your sensitized skin to UV. You’ll still want to be very careful, but our grey skies can make that much easier.

    What can I do today?

Ready for a change, but not a big one? Here are some quick tips for getting your glow on:

    • Begin with one of our “have it today” peels, the wildly popular Cranberry or Blueberry Smoothie enzymes. These are wonderful exfoliation treatments that leave your skin incredibly smooth and soft, with the appearance of fine lines and brown spots reduced—a nice “preview of coming attractions” if you’re thinking about the Timeless Peel.
    • Another “do it today” even in the winter: sunscreen daily. Daily application of SPF 15 or higher has been shown in studies to reverse “permanent” sun damage over the course of a year.
    • Ask your esthetician to put you on the reservation list for Intercept, our brand new full spectrum, antioxidant-packed sunscreen that debuts in late Spring--it’s the most sophisticated anti-aging sun protection product ever formulated and it’s ours exclusively!
    • Get your EFA’s! A diet rich in anti-inflammatory, anti-aging essential fatty acids can literally rebuild your skin. Found in fatty fish like salmon and butterfish (sablefish) as well as tuna, mackerel and sardines, these vital nutrients can help right away if winter has left your skin looking dull, blotchy and tired. Snack on almonds, indulge in avocado, and take a daily EFA supplement. EFA’s have benefits as a topical treatment, too! AcquaCure’s Rescue Tend roll-on is a great EFA boost to soothe and smooth.
    • Water, water, everywhere. We know, it feels like you live in the restroom when you drink those proverbial 8 glasses of water a day. But your skin, at least, will thank you for it! Your system is happier when you sip a few ounces at a time rather than chug an 8 oz. glass or 16 oz. bottle!

Have a glorious new year! We look forward to helping you achieve all your skin care goals, large and small, in 2006.
