SAN JOSE, Calif., July 19, 2007 – The Healing Touch Spa Party returns for its fourth year on Thursday, August 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Hotel Los Gatos & Preston Wynne Spa in a blaze of champagne, chocolate and aromatherapy. Proclaiming "hands are for healing, not hurting," the spa party benefits Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence, a non-profit, multicultural agency annually serving more than 10,000 victims of domestic violence in Silicon Valley in its bold mission to “end domestic violence in the moment and for all time.”

This feel-good-while-doing-good event brings a gentle touch to the very painful subject of domestic violence, and focuses attention on the terrible impact such violence has on families, communities, and businesses. In Santa Clara County alone, more than 5,400 incidents of domestic violence were reported in 2006 involving more than 900 children (Santa Clara County District Attorneys Office). In the U.S., domestic violence costs businesses nearly $6 billion annually in direct health care expenses and lost productivity (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control).

Since opening in 1971, Next Door has protected victims from further abuse while offering intervention services to both victims and batterers in a committed effort to end the cycle of violence. Funds raised during the annual Healing Touch Spa Party support Next Door while offering attendees an al fresco celebration with a unique blend of revelry and relaxation. The top attraction is the menu of mini spa and beauty treatments. Thanks to generous sponsors, experts provide massage therapy, hand and foot treatments, facial massages, makeup sessions, and hair extensions—many of them offered poolside—as well as Tarot, Flower Essence and Ayurvedic readings. The event features a small army of volunteers, including massage therapists, estheticians and nail care specialists from spas all over the South Bay, who pamper and delight party guests. The party is also known for its celebrity-style goodie bags, which are stuffed with spa, beauty and gourmet treats. Throughout the evening, guests enjoy live music while exploring an array of interactive spa, shopping and beauty attractions.  Preston Wynne Spa’s new Bamboo Massage—billed as the next Hot Stone Massage—will also make its debut. Top local restaurants, including Dio Deka, will tempt with sizzling samples, and local wineries will satisfy the palate with Santa Cruz mountain vintages.

Epicures and shopaholics will appreciate the liberal appearance of chocolate throughout the Spa and a fabulous hosted Champagne Silent Auction. Items include a cooking class at Sur La Table, a private tour and cocktail tasting for four at Distillery 209, a four-night stay for up to six people at a fabulous condo in Maui, and many more. A separate grand prize drawing will be held for a private spa party for four at Preston Wynne Spa in Saratoga, a long-time sponsor of the event.

Gold Admission is available for $199 and includes two tickets for mini spa treatments and a spa goodie bag. Platinum “Very Important Giver” Admission (limited to 25 guests) costs $599 and includes upgrades such as a VIP Pass to a private AcquaCures Luxury Suite where guests enjoy extended-session spa treatments as well as lavish appetizers and bubbly overlooking the Party Plaza. The posh goodie bag for Platinum Admission is expected to surpass last year’s—which had a retail value of more than $750.

"BEST OF SILICON VALLEY" AWARDS FOR 2005

Preston Wynne Spas took top honors in three categories in the 2005 "Best of Silicon Valley" awards, sponsored by Metro Newspapers. The spas were lauded for "Best Massage," "Best Manicure and Pedicure," (Preston Wynne at Hotel Los Gatos) and "Best Day Spa." Awards in the "Best of" race are decided by reader votes (please see writeup below).

"Preston Wynne currently operates at two locations—in Saratoga and at the Hotel Los Gatos—and it's a sure bet they could grow far beyond the bounds of Silicon Valley if they so chose. This year, they won Best of Silicon Valley in both the manicures/pedicures and the massage category, but that's just the icing on the cake for a company that has come to be synonymous with luxurious treatment in Silicon Valley. Let's break down their wins: as far as massages go, they've actually had leaders in the field develop special massages specifically for Preston Wynne clients. A massage experience doesn't get more "unique" than that, eh? Nor will any pleasure-seeker we know shy away from their spa pedicures. Multiple locations."

In a 2004 story on spas and non profits, Peter Greenberg of the TODAY show called Preston Wynne’s Healing Touch program "Pampering with a Purpose". The Healing Touch vision is to put the healing resources of the spa industry to work for the crusade against domestic violence, which is the largest public health threat facing American women. PW also hosts women from Next Door’s shelter for stress relieving, self-esteem boosting spa treatments.

The Healing Touch Spa Party included wildly popular hands-on "cocktail length" spa and salon treatments, provided by an array of companies, including Pavia Day Spa of Saratoga, Naturals Day Spa of Morgan Hill, and Capelli salon of Los Gatos, and Preston Wynne. On the menu was seated massage, mini facials, foot treatments, and glamour stations for hair, nails and makeup.

Spa vendors included Elizabeth Van Buren Aromatherapy, local cult brand AcquaCures and Kkreations, who demonstrated their latest products. Deja & Company Jewelers of Saratoga staged a fine jewelry trunk show.

The party engulfed the entire hotel and its poolside courtyard, with spa services al fresco under the palms. Fabulous goodie bags were stuffed with spa swag, and the beautiful admission bracelet is actually a keepsake piece of jewelry: a handcrafted domestic violence awareness bracelet. The tantalizing silent auction, featuring spa gift certificates from a variety of Valley facilities, including Harmonie Day Spa, spurred unrestrained “giving”.

Party guests completed a quiz about the agency's programs to qualify for the grand prize, a private spa party for 12 at Preston Wynne Hotel Los Gatos. Next Door's programs include emergency shelter, children's programs, legal advocacy, long term transitional housing and Teen Dating Violence prevention. The answers come from Next Door staffers, who represent each of the agency's programs.

"VIG"s (Very Important Givers) enjoyed a posh VIG lounge, additional spa treatments by AcquaCures’s crack team, a stylish black T with "Healing Touch" in Swarovski crystals, delectable finger food by Sous City Catering, champagne and chocolate truffles.
